U-12 Boys notes

Well done to the Division 1 and 4 teams who have both qualified for their respective county finals. On Monday, June 1st in Fuerty, the Division 1 team put in a super performance against a very game St Ciaran’s side to book their place in the decider. Final score line: St Brigid’s 5-9, St Ciaran’s 1-7. Meanwhile, in the Division 4 semi-final against Shannon Gaels played in Kiltoom on Sunday morning last, St Brigid’s put in a very strong second-half showing to win comfortably on a 6-10 to 0-7 score line. Shannon Gaels put it up to our lads in the first half, trailing by just a goal at the break. However, St Brigid’s found a different gear in the second period and full deserved their victory. St Brigid’s staged another superb fightback last week, this time in one of the two games played in the Easyfix tournament against Mountbellew in Kiltoom last Thursday. Trailing 3-4 to 0-1 at half-time after conceding wind advantage, St Brigid’s outscored Mountbellew 4-4 to a 0-1 in the second half to secure victory. In the other game on the same evening against Mountbellew, St Brigid’s ran out easy winners. There is another Easyfix game scheduled for next Wednesday against Tuam, 7.15 pm. The following is the squad of players which featured over the three games recently: Oisin Canny, Jamie Curley, Shane Daly, Kevin Derwin, Ronan Doyle, James Goose, Harry Griselain, Conor Hand, Daniel Meeley, Thomas O'Brien, James Rourke, Adam Donovan, Liam Hennelly, Brian Nestor, Daniel Keenan, Micheal Sugrue, Sol Trundle, Bryan Armstrong, Hughie Cunniffe, David Dolan, Bobby Nugent, Daniel Skehan. Shane O'Boyle, Simon O'Boyle, Matthew Samuels, Luke Whelan, Paddy Higgins, James Halpin, Martin O’ Grady, Fionn McDonnell, Eanna McDonnell, Luke Murphy, Eoin Reid.

U14 Boy's Division 4 League Final

St. Brigid's 5-10, Michael Glaveys 9-7.

The division 4 team lost out to a strong Michael Glavey's side on Saturday evening last in the Hyde. Despite going in 3-9 to 3-1 up at half time, Glavey's proved too strong for us in the second half.

Team: E. Gallagher, A. Dolan, G. Daly, S. Keenan 2-0, U. O'Rourke, B. O'Hara-Duggan 1-0, F. O'Sullivan 0-4, B. Monaghan 0-3, J. Ryan, L. O'Rourke 0-2.

Subs: B. Nestor 0-3, A. Samuels, O. Canny, F. Cunniffe.

School's Competition

It was a great week for the schools of the parish with three teams qualifying for the county final-Ballybay boys and girls’ teams and Brideswell's girls’ team. This is a great achievement and well done to all involved. Also we want to wish Curraghboy's boys team the best of luck in their semi-final replay that is to take place Monday 8th. The finals will take place on 16th/17th June in Ballyleague.
