Golden Masters Doubles 40x20 All-Ireland Semi-Final
Roscommon's Dermot Doolin and Ger Walsh had a great All-Ireland semi final win in the Emerald Masters A Doubles at the weekend. Having to travel to their opponents home court in Broadford, Limerick and up against current world champion in his grade, Tom O'Brien, the task was always going to be tough. Playing with Tom was Limerick's Donal O'Connor, well experienced and long time doubles partner with Tom. However, that experience and telepathy was more than matched on the Roscommon side as both Ger and Dermot played a great combination. The Roscommon pair surprisingly got the better start, winning the first 21-16. Dermot controlled play on the left better than his Limerick counterpart and get was sharp and clinical inside.
Ger and Dermot went ahead 12-5 in the second and looked in control. However, limerick's Tom O'Brien enjoyed a purple patch in the middle of the second game to bring them level at 15 and 18 in the second game. Limerick took the lead 19-18 at one stage but composure and accurate serving to the right ensured the Roscommon lads closed out the match in two straight games
