Minor Notes April 28th 2013

Minors: The minor team played out an entertaining draw away to St. Croans in the league last week. Final Score: St. Brigids 1-11, St Croans 2-8. Scorers: Conor Gleeson (0-6), Conor Quinn (1-1), J. McDonnell (0-2), Brian Stack (0-1) and Alan Daly (0-1). The next league game is scheduled for May 7th against Boyle.

U-16s: The U-16s’ next outing is in the championship at home to St Ciarans on Sunday next, May 5th at 11.30 am.

U-14s Féile: The U-14 squad  will do battle with Oran in the Roscommon Féile final following Oran’s victory against Clann na nGael in the other Féile semi-final on Sunday evening last. The County Féile final is now fixed for this Thursday, May 2nd at 7pm, venue to be confirmed. The winners will have the honour of representing Roscommon in Féile this summer. In the league last Thursday evening, the U-14s were missing a number of players and lost out to Castlerea St Kevins on a scoreline of 3-8 to 0-6. Squad v Castlerea: L. Martin, K. Connor, E. U-12s: The U-12 squad has a busy weekend on home turf, facing Galway sides Annaghdown and Corofin in the Easyfix tournament on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Following their opening victory in this tournament against Monivea on April 9th, it was mixed fortunes this time with a win and loss recorded. Against Annaghdown, St Brigid’s registered a solid victory with an aggregate score of 2-17 to 3-5 while against Corofin, the squad lost out narrowly by five points on an aggregate scoreline of 9-10 to 7-11. Well done to all the lads. U-10s: The U-10 squad are scheduled to play their first match of the season next Thursday evening, May 2nd, when they take on Athlone. Players will be notified of full details by their coaches. On account of this game, there will be no training taking place this Wednesday.

U-8s: Training: Training continues for all grades from U-8s to Minor. Players will be notified of any changes to normal training times.

Nursery: The St. Brigid’s nursery programme, aimed at children aged between 4 and 6 years, continues on Saturday mornings from 11am to 12pm. In a fun environment, the nursery gives boys and girls a basic foundation in the core skills of Gaelic football.
