Roscommon U-10 Community Games Gaelic Football:

Kiltoom/Cam.....2-06       Strokestown....2-02

The U-10 Community Games team progressed to the quarter-finals after getting their campaign off to a winning start in Ballyleague on Sunday last with a hard fought victory over a strong Strokestown team.

Kiltoom/Cam started of well, but numerous scoring chances were missed before Strokestown opened the scoring with a point.  Stokestown then enjoyed a period of dominance, but superb defending by Marian Nolan, James Rourke and Simon O’Boyle ensured that no further scores were conceded. Gradually, Kiltoom/Cam got the upper hand in midfield and points by Thomas O’Brien, Kevin Derwin and Shane O’Boyle were followed by a goal by Ronan Doyle.  Strokestown responded with a pointed free, leaving Brigid’s winning by 1-03 to 0-2 at the break.

Kiltoom/Cam continued to dominate and added further scores through a Bobby Nugent goal and points from Conor Hand and two from Thomas O’Brien.  However, Strokestown responded with two quick goals to bring them back into the game and continued to pile on the pressure.  But great goalkeeping by Harry Grislelan, and super defending by Shane Daly, Abbie Murray and Oran Benton kept Kiltoom/Cam in front.  Kiltoom/Cam then regained the upper hand in midfield and pinned back the Strokestown team until the final whistle.

Kiltoom/Cam will now play the winners of Roscommon/Kilt or Kilbride in the quarter final.
